It’s safe and obvious to say that we are in a time of crisis, not only in the States, but around the world. Our enigmatic leader has been doing what he can to bring together two extremely strong ideologies in order to put our country back on track. Yet, there seems to be an ongoing circus-style revolt from the Republican party.

Return of the Blink!!

Think back about 10 years ago. The world was a different place. Music was a different world. There were boy bands, bubblegum pop, Limp Bizkit and a small band known as Blink-182! They were the manifestation of my youthful thoughts and the ideal rock band I wanted to be a part of.
They weren’t pretentious nor did they make crappy music. Taking a page out of the playbook of the Ramones, Blink-182 wrote music that was fun, clever and poppy. They were the quintessential punk-pop band of the late 90s early millenium. They were phenomenal, everything they did wreaked of pure energy and enjoyment. They made music for the fun of music, for the fans, for themselves.

Reasons to Stay Home and Stare at the Wall…

Earlier I posted a group of films I am most looking forward to seeing in 2009, now it’s time to talk about the movies in production or recently released that should never have left the mind’s of those creating them:
Friday the 13th (remake) – Was this really necessary? The original was a classic, one that will creep out adolescents for the rest of their lives.. was it really necessary to remake this masterpiece? Not to mention that they’ve re-imagined it so that the villain is Jason himself and not mommy dearest. This is another example of how the horror genre in Hollywood is a carbon copy of the past. This film is being directed and produced by the same people who brought the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise back to life, and after watching the trailer.. it actually looks exactly like the TCM remakes… TRY SOMETHING NEW DAMNIT! The list goes on…

Reasons to go to the Movies .. or Bootleg in 2009

In a previous post I lamented about why Hollywood is a stain on the underpants of the entertainment industry. How they abuse and take advantage of the unknowing public with crappy films about people being sawed in half and just lacking a sense of creativity all together. But I am optimistic today, I am not sure why, maybe it’s my morning Cafe Mocha twittering in my stomach or maybe it’s the fact that I realized with the economy gravely ill, movie studios are going to have to do their very best in order to steal the doubloons from the pockets of moviegoers across the world!
Example A ~ Wolverine: Origins has gone back into production for optimal re-shoots, because after final approval executives and possible focus groups thought the film lacked something (maybe a script?.. remember this was written during the writer’s strike). Therefore, the studio went back to the drawing board and apparently put more scenes involving Deadpool and Gambit (FAWESOME!). This makes me feel as happy as a pig rolling around in his own fecal matter.. or someone else’s fecal matter (you know how pigs are!!). I have done some extensive research and came up with a list of films that I am excited for in 2009 .. enjoy!

There is a GOD! Arrested Development is ON!

Well folks.. we’ve had a crazy few months with the whole economic depression change in government, and now something special is coming to town – THE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT MOVIE! This might be partially premature, like a teenager on prom night (giggity). But rumors spurting out of the wood work is that the final holdout (Cera) has joined the ranks and filming will begin as soon as possible! Jeffrey Tambor (George Sr.) was quoted, “The movie is going to happen this year, and Michael Cera is on board. Trust me.”
The long awaited movie will be in production soon (fingers crossed) and GOB lovers all over the world will rejoice!
The John Mayer Empire Grows!

I truly believe that John Mayer is smart! Whether you like his music or not, you have to give the guy credit. First off, he plays a mean guitar and every album he makes offers something more to the listener. He’s creative and dates some of the hottest and …dare I say .. skankiest (..ahem…Jessica Simpson) women in Hollywood. Secondly, he knows how to market himself. He’s not overlly pretentious and does things outside the realm of music in order to not only please his audience but to reach out beyond it; some examples include: The MayerCraft Carrier, his bromance with Kanye and Dave Chappelle, and his ability to make people laugh (“Two Guys, 1 Cup”, “Chocolate Rain Remix”)

This was declared on stage at the Television Critics Association press tour on January 14th, while sitting beside two of the shows’ main stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett.

Dear Hollywood, STOP!

I am a fan of movies, but recently I’ve found a shortage of high-quality films coming out of Hollywood (i.e. The Spirit, Yes Man, any Saw movie, any movie made by the Wayans family, etc.). The creativity level in Hollywood has gone from interesting to redundant and back to completely wack! I for one am also a huge fan of marketing, because with the increase of pirated films, studios need some kind of reassurance that they will get their investment back and more (hence anything made by George Lu(suck)cas) But something has to change….

Well, the proverbially poo has slammed against the fan! Just yesterday Steve Jobs has declared that he will be taking a leave of absence due to health reasons. It seems that the previously described health problems were deemed more distressing than first thought. What does this mean for the Apple empire, what will become of the machine that has been the leader in the tech industry for years now?
